Outdoor Bluetooth Speaker Reviews
#1 JBL Flip Bluetooth Portable Stereo Speaker
- Colors: 12 Colors
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, 3.5 millimeter Auxiliary Port
- Battery: Built-In 4800mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion
- Playtime: Up to 12 Hours
- Waterproof: Yes
The JBL Flip Bluetooth Portable Stereo Speaker is easily one of the best out there today. As the name suggests, it can be stood up vertically, or laid down horizontally (a.k.a “flipped”).
The model comes in various trendy colors and patterns, so you’re sure to find a theme that suits your perfectly. The overall presentation looks a bit sporty, but still fashionable.
It has a fully-sealed design with a rubberized enclosure, with 4 control buttons (pause/play, Bluetooth pairing, and -/+ for volume).
The surprisingly powerful stereo sound is powered by a 4800mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery, which provides up to 12 hours of constant, high-quality audio playback.
That’s more than enough time for most people who will be using it while relaxing at the beach, by the pool, etc.
As it can even be submerged, it would be perfect, except for the fact that it doesn’t float so that doesn’t help much. Hopefully in the future this is fixed.
As it features waterproof fabric, it’s perfect for all kinds of weather, as well as around bodies of water. Connectivity wasn’t an issue at all, with pairing being very straightforward.
It can also work more than 33 feet away from the device you’re connected to. Overall, it produced very loud, clear sound with much better bass than their last model and is our Editor’s Choice for the best outdoor bluetooth speaker.
#2 Aiwa Exos-9 Portable Bluetooth Speaker
- Colors: Black
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, 3.5 millimeter Auxiliary Port
- Battery: Removable 57.2 Ah Lithium-Ion
- Playtime: Up to 9 Hours
- Waterproof: No
Currently one of the most popular Bluetooth speakers around is the AIWA Exos-9. It’s known for it’s excellent sound quality and loudness, and the unique style will stand out anywhere you put it.
The battery-operated speaker is great for both indoor and outdoor use, but it’s not anywhere near as rugged as the JBL Flip 4. Another important thing to note, is that it is not waterproof.
Where is really shines, however, is the fact that it has 5 drivers and high-quality crossovers.
The audio is excellent, needless to say, and you can control 5 different frequency bands on their own if you don’t like the included presets.
The included touchscreen allows you to adjust the EQ, play and pause songs, and also link two speakers. There’s a nice NFC tag right next to the touchscreen for super user-friendly, quick pairing.
On the rear panel, you’ll find a concealed handle, bass reflex port, and a removable battery, power switch, AUX-In port, and a micro USB input.
Overall, this is one of the loudest out there, and quite possibly the loudest bluetooth speaker we’ve used – perfect for larger groups of people. If you need more, simply link another up!
#3 Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker
- Colors: Black with 5 lighting modes
- Connectivity: Bluetooth
- Battery: Rechargeable 2600mAh Li-ion
- Playtime: Up to 12 Hours
- Waterproof: No
Anker isn’t one of the most well-known brands out there, but we still found their Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker to be one of our favorites.
The design may be simple, but it excels where many others fail. You don’t need to have an ultra-elaborate speaker to have a good experience, and this model proves that.
In the box, you’ll find the speaker of course, as well as a micro USB charging cable. We realized as soon as we got the package that it was pretty small, so this may be a downside for some listeners.
The speaker features a pretty minimal design, but looks relatively modern and sophisticated. We loved the black, but it also comes in red and blue.
The construction is mostly of plastic, along with aluminum mesh on the front. On the top panel, you’ll find 5 control buttons: On/Off, + and – for volume, Play/Pause, and Bluetooth pairing.
On the side, you have an LED charging indicator light, an AUX input, micro USB charging port, and microphone. Overall, the design is sturdy despite being so compact.
However, it’s important to note that its smaller size and light weight makes it perfect for taking with you anywhere you go.
Perhaps it’s the best portable bluetooth speaker on our list with a powerful battery, which can last up to an impressive 24 hours at average volume.
#4 Bugani M90 Portable Bluetooth Speaker
- Colors: Grey/Gold
- Connectivity: Bluetooth
- Battery: 4000mAh Li-ion
- Playtime: Up to 20 hours
- Waterproof: Yes
If you’re on the hunt for the ultimate heavy-duty speaker, then look no further than the Bugani M90 Portable Bluetooth Speaker.
Not only is it waterproof, but also shock-absorbing (IPX5-certified). That means you can take it pretty much wherever you’d like.
The beach, hiking, the pool, crazy house parties; the sky is the limit! No matter where you are, you can rest assured that your Photive will live to tell the tale.
Not only that, but if you have a big party going on and can’t seem to keep the music pumping, this speaker is more than loud enough to satisfy any ear.
The bass, in particular, amplifies very well, yet keeps a crisp sound as opposed to the muddiness that others tend to have with boosted bass. This is aided with the powerful 20W stereo sound and passive subwoofer!
The battery life is excellent, with up to 20 hours of listening time at a moderate volume.
In fact, if you were to compare this one to other Bluetooth speakers with this amount of bass, 20 hours would be an insane amount of time. If you want the best waterproof bluetooth speaker, the Bugani is a great choice.
#5 Doss Touch Wireless Bluetooth V4.0 Portable Speaker
- Colors: Black, Blue, Red, White
- Connectivity: Bluetooth
- Battery: 2200mAH Rechargeable
- Playtime: Up to 12 Hours
- Waterproof: No
If you’re trying to find an excellent outdoor Bluetooth speaker but are having trouble finding a great one on a budget, we understand.
That’s why we’ve gone ahead and added in the Doss Touch Wireless Bluetooth V4.0 Speaker. It has the qualities of pricier speakers, but this one fortunately is very affordable. If a compact size doesn’t bother you, then keep on reading.
What really stood out to us about this model, was the ability to give full sound with a notably deeper/more intense bass.
The sound was incredible and one of the best wireless bluetooth speakers available at any price! In addition, we found that the smaller size and lighter weight made it great for traveling with!
The design isn’t the most attractive if we’re honest, but it’s not poor by any means. It comes in 4 different colors, and we personally loved the black and the red.
As far as controls are concerned, the speaker has a sensitive touch button with Laser Carving finish. This not only looks attractive, but is user-friendly, too.
You can switch between the 3 play options (Bluetooth, Micro SD, AUX In) in a snap, too. Intuitively control your music with the simple touch system, as well as answer phone calls if you feel like it.
The volume controls are all through the top ring of the speaker. Clockwise rotation boosts volume, while counter-clockwise reduces it.
#6 Bose Soundlink Color Bluetooth Speaker II
- Colors: Soft Black, Aquatic Blue, Coral Red, Polar White
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, 3.5 millimeter Auxiliary Port
- Battery: Rechargeable Li-ion
- Playtime: Up to 8 Hours
- Waterproof: No, Water Resistant
Chances are, if you watch TV or listen to music at all, you’ve probably heard of Bose. The American company is more than well-known for creating quality products.
What they’re probably most known for are their active noise-cancelling headphones. That being said, it’s no surprise that we fell in love with their Soundlink Color Bluetooth Speaker.
The speaker demonstrates just why the brand has been so successful.
The speaker isn’t huge by any means; in fact, you could easily slide it into your bag without really feeling a weight or size difference.
The entire model is quite compact. It’s mostly made up of industrial plastic, including the mesh on the front of the device. You’ll find 6 buttons on the speaker: Power, Bluetooth pairing, AUX, Play/Pause, and – and + volume controls.
One of our favorite parts of the model, was the looks. The 5 different colors available added to this, and gave a touch of personal style.
Aside from looks, it was very sturdy, and connected easily to just about any Bluetooth-enabled device within 33 feet.
The battery time of 8 hours wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. Our only real complaints were that the sound wasn’t as loud as most others on our guide, and that it wasn’t waterproof. However, if you are looking for the
best sounding bluetooth speaker, it would be hard to go wrong with Bose quality!
#7 AYL Soundfit Portable Outdoor & Shower Bluetooth Speaker
- Colors: Black, Forest Green, Ocean Blue
- Connectivity: Bluetooth
- Battery: Rechargeable Li-ion
- Playtime: Up to 12 Hours
- Waterproof: Yes
The AYL Soundfit is another wonderful product if you’re planning on getting your speaker wet, or are looking for something a bit more convenient.
Not only that, but this one is excellent if you’re on a tight budget. It’s undoubtedly the most budget-friendly speaker we tried out that still maintained a certain level of quality.
Since it is completely waterproof, you can take it with you to the beach, to a pool party, or even in the shower! We were pleasantly surprised at how even in the shower, the sound was still so clear and crisp.
The bass wasn’t muddied at all, and dance parties can easily ensue anywhere this device is. In addition, we found that it was one of the more durable outdoor Bluetooth speakers.
The lifetime warranty only adds to the comfort we felt with using this one. As it pairs with pretty much any Bluetooth device, you don’t have to worry about your smartphone or tablet not working with this speaker.
The lightweight device is easy to take for traveling and is one of the best waterproof speakers on our list that works just as well indoors as it does outdoors.

- Tips For Bluetooth Speakers
We know that when it comes to technology, it can be difficult deciding which device is the best. There are so many options out there, and the speaker market is saturated.
If you haven’t yet decided which one of these outdoor Bluetooth speakers is the best one for you, that’s perfectly okay.
That’s why we’ve gone ahead and taken it upon ourselves to write up an in-depth buying guide. We will make sure that you’re successful in your decision!
Portability
Chances are, if you’re looking for speakers to use outside, you’re looking for convenience. Bluetooth speakers are great, because you don’t have to use any wires. However, they still vary when it comes to how portable they are.
In fact, some we tried out were super heavy and bulky – not ideal at all if you want to take it to the beach or to a barbecue. No one wants to lug a speaker around when you have to carry towels, food, bags, or other items. Most of the products on our list above are nice and compact.
Also take into consideration how much the product weighs. A slender speaker can easily slide into a backpack or carry-on so that you don’t even notice a difference while carrying it.
Weather Resistance
What makes an outdoor speaker at outdoor speaker? The ability to perform well under the elements, of course! Sure, you can use a speaker that’s not waterproof outdoors.
But, you may enjoy having one that can actually withstand a bit of rainfall or still work well if it accidentally gets splashed at a pool party.
What’s more, is having a speaker that can absorb a good amount of shock. There are a few on our guide which absorb shock, and are going to hold up for years to come thanks to great engineering and high-quality materials.
Sound Quality
Sure, you could have the world’s most durable speaker, but if it doesn’t sound good, are you really going to make good use of it? The vast majority of the speakers above are close to audiophile performance levels.
Some allow you to control up to 5 EQ bands, so you can personalize the sound the way you want it. Others come with EQ presets, so you don’t have to guess.
What really matters, is that you get crisp, defined sound. Bonus points if the bass can be boosted without muddying the song.
If that weren’t enough, there are also a couple options which have built-in graphic equalizers.
Speakerphone
Some may not want to have their conversations with their mothers-in-law or significant others broadcast to the whole room.
You can’t deny, though, that having a Bluetooth speaker that can also operate as a speakerphone is pretty convenient. Many offer a built-in mic so you can have a hands-free conversation.
Power for Smartphone
I don’t know how it happens, but it always seems like everyone needs to be charging their phone constantly. Batteries drain even easier when they’re playing music.
An invaluable feature to have in your speaker, is a built-in charger for your device. If you’re on a long flight or party and don’t have a dedicated charger or charge port available, this is a priceless benefit!
Battery
Aside from charging your phone, you need to consider the battery of the speaker, itself. How long are you planning on using the speaker for?
Are you going on super long hikes and would like to motivate yourself with music the whole climb? Maybe you’re only planning on listening for a couple of hours here-and-there while making dinner or cleaning around the house.
Although it’s not a rule, generally speaking, you’ll find that the longer the battery life is, the more expensive the model will be. With that, if you don’t really think you’ll need a 15 hour duration in one go, then don’t do it and opt for the less expensive model.
Looks/Style
This may be the most important to some, or the least. Most times, if a speaker can turn heads, it’s going to sell well. We rather you focus on other aspects, but we understand style is also important.
You can’t go wrong with black, but some manufacturers offer a wide array of trendy colors and patterns to choose from. It’s always nice to select a product that suits your personality well.
FAQs About Portable Bluetooth Speakers
Q: Will my normal speakers be able to work outside?
Maybe if you live in a temperate, dry climate. However, as soon as you subject these to a bit of humidity, rain, wind, or even just sunlight, you risk damaging most of them. You can always use an outdoor speaker indoors, but the reverse is often untrue.
Q: Why is bass reproduction often so poor outdoors?
This is often the most difficult part of finding a quality outdoor Bluetooth speaker. In an open environment, speakers often produce a flat sound. Make sure you have a frequency range which can dip down to 20-200 Hz, and if you have a subwoofer, this can help here.
Q: How far can my Bluetooth connection go?
This is going to vary, depending on the model you choose. Usually you’ll find that the highest quality products will provide anywhere from 30 to 60 feet without becoming disconnected or weak.
Tips For Bluetooth Speakers
#1: To help figure out how good sound quality is, look at the following four factors:
- Output Power
- Frequency Range
- Sound System
- Impedance
Output power/watts are going to relate directly to sound pressure, or volume. We recommend choosing a product at least at 15 to 20 watts to sound good in the outdoors.
#2: If you can, get a speaker with NFC, too
This will allow you to connect not only to your Apple products, but to tablets, Androids, and more.
#3: The ability to connect multiple speakers can really transform you experience
A few options above let you connect more than one speaker at a time, which can give you a kind of surround sound feel at an affordable cost.
Final Thoughts
Now that you’ve had the opportunity to read in-depth about the best outdoor Bluetooth speakers, which one will be showing up at your doorstep? It’s better to go with a speaker that has more power thatn you think you might need. Also if you plan on bringing it near water, it’s best to go with a waterproof/water resistant model.
We hope that this guide has helped you select the perfect speaker for you. Thank you for tuning in, and we will see you again soon!
